Watching Netflix On Your TV ( Malaysia)

Everyone rejoice the moment Netflix announced that they were going Global, Malaysian especially. We can now trim down our satellite TV packages. But how do you watch Netflix on your TV and what do you need??

First of all, you will need a TV :)

There's 2 situation:

1. If you have a smart tv or a tv that is preloaded with Google Play Store then it will be much easier.

All you need to do is install the Netflix app ( if it is not already installed) then you just follow the sign up instructions.

2. If you do not have a SMART TV i.e. there is no Google Play Store on your TV. Then you will need to hook up an extra device to your not so smart TV.

You can either BUY a Chromecast stick , Amazon Fire Stick , Apple TV box or any other similar devices. Make sure your TV have a USB port. Those CRT TVs don't have one, i think.

Chromecast, Roku Stick , Amazon Fire Stick

Once you plug-in your Media stick, follow the instructions to download the Netflix app & continue with the sign-up process.

You will also need a credit card to sign-up. So kids, you will need your parents' help on this, unless you have your own credit card.

Good luck and enjoy your Netflix.

Next time i will teach you on how to acess the US version of Netflix.

Netflix In Malaysia

Netflix, the famous American provider of on-demand Internet streaming media is now available around the world, and most importantly in MALAYSIA.

For a fee as low as RM33 ( for the basic package) you can watch all your favorite movies, TV series and cartoons. Previously, people outside the US have to use the VPN services to access Netflix due to location restriction. And you have to pay for VPN services as well, about USD4.99 depends on the service provider.

Netflix is giving 1 month free trial period for everyone. Upon registration, you will need to provide your credit card details and after the free trial  period ends, your card will be charged on monthly basis. In US the charge is USD7.99 ( MYR35.00). The Malaysian currency is not so good now.

One thing you must know about Netflix Malaysia, some content/tv series are not available due to some rights issue ( other satellite provider already bought the exclusive rights of that content). I have yet to confirm this because I am using the US version of Netflix.

With Netflix, you have to change the way you watch TV. You don't browse thru the channels like you do on Astro, you have to choose what you want to watch. And the best thing is, you can start watching anytime, pause anytime, and CHOOSE which episode you want to watch.

Cool right?

Please leave a comment if you want to learn how to watch Nexflix on your TV.

Amanah Saham Bumiputera ( ASB) Dividend 2015

Today, PNB declared the annual dividend for ASB of 7.25 sen per unit and a bonus of 0.50 sen per unit for Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) for the financial year ended December 31, 2015 involving a total payout of  RM10.8 billion ( div + bonus).

The percentage is less than what is declared for 2014. 0.75% lower.

ASB Dividend Year 2000~2015
Year 2000 was a good year, a toal of 11.75% ( Dividend & Bonus) was declared for that year. Considering that everything is going up in 2015 , it is funny that something that PNB declared a lower dividend this year.

It is true that the value of the total payout is more, but individually, people are getting less than what the got for last year. Hopefully PNB will do better next year.

Unit holders will be able to update  their saving account books from 4th January 2015 onwards.
